FAQ: Health
How much water should I drink a day for proper hydration?
On average, women should consume about 91 ounces (2.7 liters) of water a day and men should drink about 125 ounces (3.7 liters) per day but this varies depending on your weight and level of exercise. The IBWA has a great calculator to help estimate the amount of water you need to be adequately hydrated.
Why is water important to my health?
Our bodies are almost two-thirds water, so water helps nearly every part of the human body function efficiently.
- Our brains are 75% water! Even moderate dehydration can cause headaches.
- Blood is 90% water. Water carries nutrients and oxygen to all cells in the body & protects and cushions our vital organs.
- Bones are 25% water. Water helps to cushion our joints.
- Muscles are 75% water.
- Water also moistens oxygen for breathing, helps to convert food into energy, removes waste & regulates body temperature.
Can water help me lose weight?
Yes! Weight loss is primarily the result of our liver converting stored fat into energy. This process not only requires sufficient water intake but also can be greatly accelerated by consuming an abundance of water. Water also suppresses the appetite and helps our food to digest properly.
